About the workshop The five-day beginner workshop will provide knowledge and training in small-molecule crystallography and is open for all. The instructors have over 35 years of experience in crystallography and will guide the participants from collecting data all the way through to publishing the crystallographic information file. Mornings will be theoretical, while afternoons are reserved for practical sessions that will offer a hands-on experience for the participants and enable them to feel confident about running and analyzing their own crystals. Level: Users of, or those interested in, small-molecule crystallography Beneficiaries: Current Students, Industry/Academic Partners, Public The workshop will be supplemented by a future, separate advanced course that will cover twinning, disorder and difficult structures. The current beginner workshop will give the participants a foundation to collect good data and solve the majority of structures, while the future advanced course will equip them to tackle any crystallographic problem.

Instructor(s)
Dr. Samuel Morris Senior Research Fellow

Materials chemist specialising in using zeolites for indoor farming substrates and outdoor, drought resistant, rooftop greening. Principal investigator on two grants and run a team of 3 postdoctoral researchers and mentor a PhD student.A trained crystallographer and acts as departments single-crystal and Rietveld expert, as well as running X-ray fluorescence analysis and giving lectures/workshops on all of the above.

Dr. Walter Wong Research Fellow

I am a Materials Science PhD graduate with interests and enthusiasm in small molecule crystallography. I specialize in single crystal X-ray diffraction and powder X-ray diffraction which are routinely used for characterizating novel materials. I have extensively used single crystal XRD on hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites and with metallogranic framework materials, as well as covalent organic framework materials. Presently, my interests are in utilizing hybrid perovskite materials for ferroic applications.

Dr. Rakesh Ganguly Associate Director

Trained Coordination and Organometallic Chemist with interest in Bio-organometallic and Material Chemistry. Have more than 14 years of SCXRD experience. Developed and taught Crystallography course work for Graduates in NTU, Singapore.
